I make money on the Internet in my free time (literally). It’s not rocket science. Read on to know my story and how I can give you a headstart. I strongly advise you to read my section on Affiliate Marketing first.

An Amazing Thing Called the Internet

I’ve not talked much about myself on this blog, besides for a little about me page tucked in a corner. However, for the purpose of this amazing thing I’m going to offer to you, I would like to talk to you about the Internet.

I was there when the Internet starting catching on in my country and the rest of the world.

I was in my teens and this glorified world I found in a little monitor fascinated me. In the blink of an eye I could actually find information for school homework without needing to go to a public library and look at physical books. Soon, Internet connections became faster, and I found that I no longer needed to buy cassette tapes (I’m not old but not that young either) or CDs, because I could simply download high quality MP3 files of my favourite songs and play them on my computer. At a time when I was young and clueless, I didn’t know much about copyright law. In any case, everyone was downloading songs like crazy, reveling in this new found wonder called the Internet.

Soon, Internet connections became even better, and it reached a point where people could simply download entire full length movies from the Internet. It was both shocking and amazing. This thing called the Internet, which creeped into the lives of millions around the world, was threathening the existence of physical goods that you once thought would be here to stay for eternity. Cassettes tapes, CDs, VCDs, DVDs. All of these media can be delivered via the Internet into your computer more and more easily as technology and Internet speeds skyrocket.

Needless to say, the Internet became a fearsome competitor for all kinds of traditional physical consumer goods that grew to include not just music and movies. Books, newspapers training materials, print media, advertising, games.

From just 16 million users in 1995, the number of Internet users have exploded to to more than 2,000 million (as of 2010). What does this mean?

There is a Lot of Money to Be Made on the Internet.

With so many people using the Internet, the money you can make from these people is virtually limitless. Cynics say that the bubble has burst and it’s no long easy to make money on the Internet. There ‘cynics’ belong to two groups – the pessimist who refuses to try and wallows in self-pity, and the outright selfish liar who wants a bigger share of the pie for himself/herself, when in reality the pie is every-increasing because of how fast the Internet is growing.

Pardon my offroad bluntless, but ever so often the fat woman Googles for ‘easy weight loss techniques’ and chances upon an affiliate marketer selling a weightloss eBook or miracle pills. She buys the product and wham, the affiliate who was sound asleep at 3am has $50 credited into his bank account while his website does the work for him. He didn’t even have to put the book into an envelope and mail it to the woman, because his role was just to refer a sale and redirect her to the merchant’s website, where they handle everything.

Richard, a rich businessman with a competitive streak is the target of jibes from friends who think he sucks at golf. Not willing to let this go down, he searches on the Internet for tips on how to improve his swing. He strays into an affiliate site with a product that claims to be able to help him beat his friends and WHAM! Another affiliate makes $60 from referring the sale of a supposedly special kind of glove that helps him swing more accurately.

I Want a Piece of the Pie!

At one point I decided I won’t just sit around and let this chance roll by without getting a chunk of it. Logically there is money to be made, and I poured all my energies into finding out about this wonderful thing called Affiliate and Internet Marketing. Of course, I had to pour through the ‘Get Rich Quick’ scams and half-truths. Learning, discovering, making mistakes and fine-tuning ways to make money online as I sift through the tons of material on the Internet. Naturally, people who were already successful in this business were also making money teaching people how to be good marketers. I paid good money for the guidance of these people, and bought many materials that taught me a lot that I needed to know. It was both a fun and exhilarating experience. As of now, I am making money from various websites via networks like AdSense and marketing a wide range of affiliate products. I am also glad and proud to announce that my investments in these training materials (eBooks and videos) have since paid for themselves (and much more).

How Do You Get Started?

You might have read my reviews on training materials like The Affiliate Code or Auto Content Cash. Training products like these give you a nice overview and starting guide to the world of making money on the Internet. These products consist of videos and eBooks properly structured and paced to give the beginner or intermediate Internet marketing a good kickstart. These products are good investments because it beats wasting lots of time scouring the Internet for bits and pieces of scattered information, and trying to figure out the best way to make money. Although these products are good, it is not possible to build a single strong business model and sure-fire ‘one size fits all’ way to make good money from just ONE product. The Internet is constantly changing and so are consumer patterns. The Affiliate Code or Auto Content Cash are excellent ways to get you started, but there are many other facets like lead-generation, list building, traffic-generation, copywriting, social-media tactics and consumer mechanics that come into play. You need to be moderately educated in all of these, and once you build a strong foundation in these areas, making obscene amounts of money will come as second-nature to you.

Training Materials Are Too Expensive!

Many novice marketers give up because they quickly become frustrated at their lack of initial success. They jump on the bandwagon without knowing what they are getting into. Internet Marketing can potentially make you lots of money, but without the proper knowledge and education it becomes a wild goose chase. The initial investment they put into Internet Marketing fails to pay for itself and they give up altogether. Many get burnt because there is too much to learn, and individual training packages cost too much for you to properly acquire all the knowledge you need. On the other hand, many free Internet Marketing resources on the Internet are a mish-mash of junk and theoretical fluff. Quality training and advice comes at a price because of the time and effort put in to produce them.

A good mix of quality training resources that can get you started on a good foot, when bought individually can cost up to thousands of dollars. When bought individually from the original publishers, each product will cost anything between $20 – $80, and this price is for only one product. No problem if you are filthy rich to start off with. Most beginners are not. Also, what these people do not know is this – some of these quality products they have bought can be sold to other aspiring learners. This is because some products have resell rights or in some cases ‘Master Resell Rights’ or MRR. However, it is difficult to sell to others because many other people are desperately selling MRR products (might as well since you can make some money back off your initial investment). Also, many people are pricing these products at premium prices, even though they are digital product. I personally find that this makes no sense because digital products have no overheads. You can simply email an eBook or video to someone for free at no cost. Of course, few people would do this if there isn’t any incentive. As mentioned earlier, a lot of webmasters want people to post on their forums so they appear popular and busy. Most of them time these webmasters hire just one person, but there is a drawback if you hire just one poster. The posting styles are similar and there is a great lack of dynamism in the posts, which more often than not come across as robotic and artificial. If you can pool together a team of 7 to 10 posters and offer them a service that makes their forum activity look ‘real’, you can offer more value to these webmasters who may be more inclined to sign up for your service.

The reasons for this are that already established sites with a huge mass of existing regular visitings are easier to build up and monetise than starting a fresh website community from scratch. As a result, established and good websites can fetch a tidy sum for the person selling the website. A lot of people are interested in selling their websites, but do not know how. This is where money can be made!

As a website broker, you can connect buyers and sellers and take a commission for making the introductions. In order to make money online being a website broker, you can create a website detailing what you do and how you can help buyers and sellers. As people start contacting you to help, set up a buyer/seller directory on your site so people can browse the available listings. Take caution not to put the contact details of the seller on your website, because people can bypass your commission and contact the seller directly. Just have some general details on it.

Now start looking for people interested in buying or selling sites. You can find these people by going to existing website flipping sites like Flippa.com, SiteSell.com or BuySellWebsite.com. It doesn’t matter if people are already listed on these websites because they can always use additional help.

Do not give out important detail to buyers until you get them to sign paperwork that prevents them from bypassing your commission. When the deal is closed, collect a commission out of the profits.

You can make anything from $100 to millions of dollars depending on how much authority the site has (how important it is).

There are many organisations and companies on there who offer lucrative incentives for people who recruit new employees for them. If you are in touch with or know people in the recruitment business, you can act as a freelancer and find this an easy way to make money. It is entirely possible to find potential recruits and prospects for companies using the Internet.

More often than not, most companies have employee referral programs, meaning you have lots of ample chances to recruit for a multitude of different companies. If you are unsure if a company offers recruitment referral incentives, simply give them a call to clarify. In fact, you can even start with your own company if you are currently employed.

Find people within your social circle or network that are currently looking for a job. Go online on freelancing sites like Elance.com, Guru.com and Odesk.com to check out the profiles of people there to see if they fit your recruitment needs. Talk to people who sound good and ask if they are interested in securing a job.

Refer these people to the HR people of the company you are helping, and you will get paid if they are hired. To scale this up, build relationships with external recruiters who do this on a full-time basis. If you do this, you can amass a huge list of job openings from them and this can turn out to be immensively lucrative in the long run.

If you have a knack with dealing with people, you could act as a middle man/agent/intermediary for people or companies looking for someone to handle projects for them.

Many companies are always on the lookout for people to help them expand their online identities, web presence, or create content for their websites, among many other tasks. If you are good at managing other people, you can act as an agent, a link between the companies and the people who do the work.

If you are reading this, you probably know how to read and write English (duh haha!). If you are American, you probably know how to ONLY read and write English, unless you are taking other language classes. I personally know how to read and write limited Mandarin. Thus, if you know another language like French, German, Spanish etc, you can make some money in your spare time by opting fot language translation jobs. This is another effective way to take some of your free time and convert it into cash.

To become a translator, you take some steps. You can find gigs from online freelancing websites, or simply visit the many websites out there on the Internet which provide translation services exclusively. You can submit your interest and get hired from any of these sites as well. Google for and identify websites which post jobs related to language translation. Register yourself in those sites and check back regularly for updates and job postings. You can even start your own site and let people know about your language translation services. However, doing so will probably incur marketing costs for your site and you will end up spending even before you start earning.

You can get paid anything from about $0.01 per word depending on the demand for the language. If the number of translators for the particular language is scarce, then you can charge a good premium or per word rate.

There are people who like to record and post audio clips of themselves talking about a huge range of topics over the Internet. These topics range from lifestyle, technology to even religious topics. These audio files can either be pre-recorded clips, or streamed live just like a radio broadcast.

This phenomenon is know as podcasting. It is somewhat similar to blogging, except that instead of typing out the content, it is done through your voice. You can reap the same benefits of having a regular typed blog. It is just another approach of reaching visitors who prefer to hear a voice rather than read something.

To start podcasting, you would need some basic podcasting equipment like a headset, microphone and software that allows you to record audio. You can earn money via podcasting pretty much the same way you would with blogging. The revenue can be in the form of advertisements like Google AdSense, or may supplementing your income with other sourses of online revenue like affiliate marketing.

The shortest way to get started posting your first podcast is to create a website with which to post your podcasts on. The website will be something like a blog for posting podcast recordings. Next, record your content using audio recording software like Audacity if you don’t already have one. Convert your recordings to small MP3 files. Next, upload your audio files along with descriptions about the podcasts to your website.

Add content as frequently to your website as possible so you build up a regular listener base who will keep coming back for more. The more visitors you have, the more revenue you can generate from your advertisements displayed via AdSense or whichever monetising effort you use. Welcome to #5 of how to make $100 a day online. Alright #5 is sort of like #3 about article writing, except that bloggers call this ‘guest posting’ or ‘guest writing’. Webmasters need experts to come up with new content for them all the time, especially if they manage multiple sites and have no time to consistently churn out articles. If you are knowledgeable in any niche topic, simply Google the web for these topics and visit the sites one by one. Find blogs that have a webmaster contact email and email the webmaster with your interest to write a guest post. If you own a website yourself, a webmaster would probably let you include a link in your article back to your website, creating backlinks for yourself!

Webmasters also look at your credentials to see if you are fit to guest post for them. Most would expect you already have a blog on your topic, or at least some other indication that you are of good capability to create a wonderful post. Once you get a gig, make sure you complete it on time and submit your article as soon as possible! If you establish a good reputation and rapport with the webmaster, he or she might refer you to other bloggers who might use your services.

Depending on the length and type of niche article, you can make anywhere between $25 to even upwards of $200 for your post every time you write.

Welcome to #3 of how to make money online. If you have a knack for writing, this might be a goldmine for you. Remember the days when someone paid you to do their homework? Or when YOU paid someone to do YOUR homework? Well it’s the same thing here, almost. A lot of website owners got burned out writing content for their website after a while. In order for a website to continually attract visitors, the content must be fresh and up-to-date. Outdated websites quickly lose steam and get buried. Because of this, many website owners resort to paying people to write content for their websites.

For example, a website about dog training requires constant addition of new articles related to dog trainer. Suppose a website owner is busy with other stuff or just struck a writer’s block, he or she could hire someone who knows about dog training to write an article or two about dog training. Of course, he would choose someone who knows about the topic. Similarly, websites like Elance.com, Guru.com and Odesk.com are places where you can find such gigs. Look under the writing jobs section to see which webmasters are hiring and for what kind of topics. Or Google ‘writing jobs openings’. You can also directly email owners of websites that interest you.

You can earn anything from $50 to $150 or more for your article, depending on quality and length. If you are an expert on a particular topic, you can charge a lot. If you use the same article and spin it or paraphrase it, you can even sell the same article to multiple people. Make sure the articles look like different articles though. Some writers charge by per word. For example $1 per 200 words etc.
