Try Out Different Dropshippers to Isolate the Good Ones

Selling things online can be a fun and rewarding pastime, but don’t be shocked if your online selling venture doesn’t work out exactly as you wished. Like all businesses, you are bound to face troubles. These troubles range anything from a bad dropshipping company, choosing the wrong kind of products to sell or simply trying to sell at the wrong time. More often than not, it’s a combination of all three. The important thing is to stay positive (and rational at the same time). Never commit to purchasing any products you have not done enough research on. When in doubt, purchase in small quantities. Many people who get burned trying to sell things online give up because they are unable to find a reputatable wholesale vendor, supplier or dropshipper. Beginners will probably encounter this, but don’t let this dishearten you. Explore, research and test out different wholesalers and dropshippers in small bite-sized quantites.

Slowly weed out the bad suppliers and grow your list of good suppliers. Unless you don’t mind losing a little bit of money in the beginning. A good way for a beginner to start is to first try out dropshipping. This is a way to keep costs down (with the exception of listing fees for example like on eBay). This can save you a lot of head-thumping and anxiety since your potential losses are greatly minimised.

The potential of having a list of good dropshippers, each selling a range of different products, means your reach into the mass internet audience is much wider. Suppose you start by just dropshipping watches. You have already penalised yourself by restricting your target audience to just watch enthusiasts. How often does one need to change one’s watch? Not very often unless they are collectors. You will realise that your sales will not be oustanding due to the very restrained variety of products you have – just watches. Of course, I’m not saying that you should jump right in and start listing every single kind of consumer product ever invented from A – Z. For beginners, you should start small – perhaps between 2 to 5 different products. It is also possible to be profitable selling only products of a particular niche. For example, the watch seller could diversify into wall clocks, music gadget watches and other related electronics, instead of just watches. This way, he ventures into similar terroritory, much like a tree branch. This is not the same as simply just diving straight into selling things that range from opposite ends of the spectrum. Unless you are Walmart, this simply isn’t going to work for you!
